The 2024 Run for Hope raises over $16,000 for biomedical research and childhood cancer

KITCHENER-WATERLOO, Ontario, Canada ― The 2024 Run for Hope brought together runners from coast to coast in a united effort to raise funds for a vital cause. Through the support of corporate sponsors, individual donors, and the dedicated runners, over $16,000 was raised to advance biomedical research and provide support to Canadians impacted by childhood cancer. The fundraiser event, which took place in May, was organized by STEM Biomedical in collaboration with Childhood Cancer Canada. Funds raised from this year’s run were devoted to a scholarship program for childhood cancer survivors pursuing an education in STEM.

STEM Biomedical directors Anetta Ille and Alexander Ille stated, “the dedication shown for this year’s Run for Hope was nothing short of inspiring. Success of the fundraiser shows what can be achieved when we join forces and work together. The generosity of our sponsors and individual donors continues to be invaluable, and STEM Biomedical is deeply grateful for their commitment. We are now excited to support the academic endeavors of students in STEM in collaboration with Childhood Cancer Canada."

“We are so grateful to STEM Biomedical for their continued support in our collective fight against childhood cancer. Our partnership not only fuels hope but also lights the way toward a brighter future for the young adult survivors committed to creating positive change for generations to come. Together, we're turning compassion into action and making a world of difference” added Angie Ramalho, executive director of Childhood Cancer Canada.

The 2024 Run for Hope was made possible through the generosity of a number of Canadian businesses, including: Linamar, Farm Mutual Reinsurance, Telus, Gore Mutual Insurance, Trudell Medical, IMAX, Serenia Life Financial, Tepperman's, GoodLife Fitness, and The Farley Group.
